How SähköPaavo calculates the price
We show Finland’s day-ahead spot price in cents per kilowatt-hour. SähköPaavo calculates the displayed value with 25.5% VAT. The price excludes retailer margin, electricity tax, network charges, and other contract-specific charges. The daily average is weighted by interval duration.
- Prices are day-ahead spot prices for the Finland bidding zone.
- Unit conversion: 1 EUR/MWh = 0.1 c/kWh.
- The displayed value includes 25.5% VAT (in force since 1 September 2024).
- The interval includes its start, not its end.
- Times are Finland time. On clock-change days a day has 92 or 100 quarter-hours.
- Values are rounded to two decimals only for display.
- Tomorrow’s prices are shown only once the whole day has been published.
- The hourly price is the exact average of the hour’s four quarter-hour prices. If even one quarter-hour is missing, the hour is not shown.
- If the source reports the same price for several consecutive quarter-hours as one block, we show each quarter-hour separately.
- The cheapest charging window is calculated from quarter-hour prices. It can start at any quarter-hour, at the earliest at the start of the next one.
- The window must fit entirely within the available prices. If prices are missing from the searched period, no window is shown. When two windows are equally cheap, we show the earlier one.
- The example cost assumes a constant 11 kW charging power for the whole window (energy = 11 kW × duration). It includes only the spot price and VAT.
- On clock-change days the window length is real time. The repeated hour is told apart by its UTC offset.
